Back in 2013, I thought I was invincible, as most 20-year-olds do. However, at the time, I was considered clinically obese. I smoked a pack and a half of Marlboro 100s every day, ate McDonald's and gas station hot dogs for the majority of my meals, and drank soda like it was going out of style. My blood lipid levels were out of control.
Then the most shocking experience of my life occurred: I was told by my physician that I was on the fast track to an early grave due to my lifestyle decisions and family history of cardiovascular disease.
Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom to begin your climb upwards, and for me, this was my absolute bottom. I began to hate myself for the choices that I had made. I became ashamed of my weight and appearance and I became severely depressed. I was terrified that I was going to die young unless something major changed in my life.
That doctor's appointment was the catalyst that would change my life forever, leading to a series of decisions that brought me to where I am now. It took all of my courage, but I shut up my insecurities, signed up at my local gym, and began exercising. Initially, I couldn't handle more than five minutes on a treadmill from my smoker's lung and weight. I kept showing up anyway.
At home, I spent countless hours researching nutrition, health, and fitness to become more knowledgeable and skilled. I also quit smoking cold turkey, which was undoubtedly one of the HARDEST things that I have ever done.
I stayed true to my vision and showed up each and every day. Ultimately, I lost over 80 pounds. I quit smoking and even received an incredible bill of health from my doctor. This started a domino effect in my life. I began to chase the high associated with reaching my goals. This led me to go back to college to pursue my degree in nutrition. I'm now a Master's credentialed Registered Dietitian (RD), and my business is all about helping others succeed in their fitness journeys. I've come a long way since that day in the doctor's office.
I love my job. Someone smarter than me once said, "Pick a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life." They're right. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to serve my clients each day. Now, let us serve you!
